Christmas Caravan for 120 Children Affected by the HIV Epidemic in the Central Region of the Republic of Moldova

The Christmas Caravan of the Regional Social Center "Renașterea" supports 120 children affected by the HIV epidemic across 15 districts of the Republic of Moldova, with the essential support of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Chișinău.

In the spirit of solidarity that defines the winter holiday season, the Public Institution Regional Social Center “Renașterea” has launched this year’s edition of the Christmas Caravan, a large-scale initiative dedicated to supporting children affected by the HIV epidemic and their families across the central region of the Republic of Moldova. The project includes 120 children from 15 districts and the municipality of Chișinău, making it one of the most extensive social actions organized by the institution during the festive season.

This initiative is carried out with the essential support of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Chișinău, through the direct involvement of Monsignor Anton Coșa, whose generous contribution made the organization and implementation of the Caravan possible. The Diocese’s support represents a remarkable example of Christian solidarity, social responsibility, and unwavering support for vulnerable individuals.

A regional initiative with significant social impact

The Caravan serves beneficiaries from the districts of Șoldănești, Rezina, Telenești, Ungheni, Călărași, Orhei, Strășeni, Nisporeni, Criuleni, Ialoveni, Anenii Noi, Hîncești, Căușeni, Ștefan Vodă, Dubăsari and from the municipality of Chișinău. Its presence across so many administrative units reflects both the scale of existing social needs and the institution’s determination to reach every child requiring support.

Beneficiary selection was based on clear social criteria focused on identifying families facing severe hardship. The process was carried out in cooperation with social workers and other relevant local structures to ensure a balanced and responsible distribution of resources.

The social significance of the Caravan

The Christmas Caravan is not merely an act of philanthropy but a well-structured social intervention designed to offer children a sense of stability, care, and recognition during a time when their vulnerability becomes even more visible. For many of these children, the holiday season is a difficult period marked by material shortages and emotional instability. Therefore, the initiative plays a vital role in improving well-being, strengthening community ties, and fostering social inclusion.

The support provided through this Caravan contributes not only to meeting immediate needs but also to building trust in community institutions and in the actors involved in social assistance.

A model of cooperation and community responsibility

The collaboration between the Regional Social Center “Renașterea” and the Roman Catholic Diocese of Chișinău demonstrates that stable partnerships built on moral values and social commitment can produce meaningful change in the lives of society’s most vulnerable members.

In this context, the institution expresses its gratitude to the Diocese and to Monsignor Anton Coșa, whose constant support and openness to social causes make it possible to implement such large-scale projects. Appreciation is also extended to the Roman Catholic community of the Republic of Moldova, whose involvement and generosity directly contribute to improving the quality of life of children affected by the HIV epidemic.
