Psychology Students Visited the “Renașterea” Social Center
MSU psychology students visited the “Renașterea” Center to explore integrated assistance for HIV-positive people and the psychologist’s role in emotional support.
On Friday, October 24, a group of Psychology students from the Moldova State University carried out an informational visit to the “Renașterea” Social Center.
The purpose of this activity was to familiarize students with the mechanisms of integrated assistance for HIV-positive individuals, as well as with the psychologist’s role in counseling, emotional support, and social reintegration.
🟢 Main educational and professional takeaways from the visit:
Understanding the specifics of psychological intervention in the context of HIV/AIDS;
Learning about multidisciplinary services offered to beneficiaries (counseling, social support, prevention, health education);
Developing empathic and ethical skills when working with vulnerable individuals;
Encouraging the active involvement of future psychologists in promoting mental and social health.
This meeting was a valuable opportunity for learning, reflection, and inspiration for future psychology professionals.
Students gained a deeper understanding of the psychologist’s role in supporting HIV-positive people, observed interdisciplinary collaboration between psychologists, social workers, and medical staff, and discussed the emotional, social, and ethical challenges of working in this field.
The experience helped them realize the importance of empathy, confidentiality, and unconditional acceptance in counseling, as well as their own professional and human responsibility in promoting inclusion and dignity for every person.
